• After his time with the Denver Rockets, Jones played for the Floridians, where he and Mack Calvin formed the highest-scoring backcourt in professional basketball during the 1970–71 season.
• He was later traded to the Utah Stars and then to the Dallas Chaparrals, where he continued to be a productive scorer.
• Jones reached another milestone by becoming the fourth player in ABA history to surpass 10,000 career points during the 1972–73 season.
